When we got the email in early March that we were accepted, I wish they had included "Start saving now!" I did some cursory research on the Internet and found that I needed to save about $2,000 (US) to make it through to my first paycheck in August, but if I hadn't stumbled upon that or been able to work it out with my financial situation back home, it would have been quite the sucker punch.
I'm sure there have been stories of people who were unaware that they needed to bring a substantial amount of cash with them, people who have a hard time saving (I do), or people whose financial situation pre-JET didn't allow them to save, so a warning early on would be helpful.
Make the ability to transfer between prefectures easier. Otherwise nothing
