Rice Harvesting, Dance like Michael, Ghostbusters and more
Hello everyone,
It's Maryszka at the International Club. Hope you are all settling into your autumn life in Japan. The weather is just getting better every minute.
I just wanted to bring you up to date on some of our September and October activities. If you are keen to join in any events, please send me an email, call the club, or just show up (although RSVPs help us plan better). www.international-club.org <-- for contact info
All events are open to everyone who wants to join. There are no restrictions to members or non-members. So please don't let something like not being and "offical" member of the IC stop you from coming and becoming one of our friends!
Sept 7, 14, 21, 7:30pm Dance like Michael Jackson
We have four performances booked over the next two months. Why not join us in learning the moves to the Thriller dance and to Black and White? We will practice at the Club. It is 3000yen to cover the dance lessons and some other stuff that I didn't fully listen to when it was being explained to me. ^o^ (performances: Sept 24, Oct 15, Oct 23, 29)
Sept 10, 11am Pear Picking
The International Club owns a lovely pear tree up in Awara, we will be going to harvest our pears this Saturday.
Sept 17, 10am Rice Harvesting
We will be busting out our pioneering skills and using sithes to cut and harvest rice. Afterwards we can enjoy eating fresh rice balls. It is a very unique opportunity that can only be had this time of year. Why not try your hand at Rice Harvesting!
Oct 9, 11am Mud Festival
Come enjoy a day of rolling in the mud, running races in wedding dresses (in the mud) and other mud related nonsence, followed by a soak in an onsen bath. The IC Mud Festival will be happening Oct 9th in Ijira (not far from Ono). If you are interested, and live in Fukui, you will be able to join in on the bus to the mud field. If you live elsewhere get in touch and I will fill you in on how to get there. The participation fee is maybe 1000yen, to cover the bus, insurance, shower facilities and so on (still unconfirmed).
Oct 15th, 6:30pm Ghostbusters
Come get in the Halloween mood and watch Ghostbusters at the outdoor threater near Fukui station! Those of you who aren't dancing can also get to see our sweet Michael Jackson moves.
Oct 29th, all day but 7pm especially Halloween Train!!!
This is the sweetest costume party in town. The IC rents a train, decks it with TVs, turn-tables and all the good stuff, and then ride, dance, jive, drink our way up to Mikuni and back. After the train ride we parade to the after party at a Katamachi nightclub. Details to follow. Tickets will go on-sale mid-October, don't forget to get yours in advance as we always sell out!
Of course every Tuesday night we are having Japanese lessons at the club. If you are interested, it is a beginner class. Very fun, lots of laughs. Get in touch and you can join next week. Last night was the first lesson, with 4 members. It was very enjoyable.
Keep it real!
