music festivals: Fuji Rock, Summer Sonic, Loud Park

The seaons of live music is apon us soon. Fuji Rock is the last weekend in July, Summer Sonic is two weeks after that, and Loud Park is October.

I am for sure going to Fuji rock.

If you are thinking about going to any festivals this year let me know. It seems like this would be a good place to get people togoether if you are planning on going.

If you know about any other live music going on in Japan worth going to go see give a shout out (Radio Head just anounced North American Tour Dates, maybe Japan will follow shortly....)

 

No bands are listed for any of the festivals yet, but previous years had amazing line ups.

Fuji Rock was awesome last year. If I like any of the bands this year I will go again. I never knew a festival could be so clean! There was a lot of walking, but also an onsen and tons of great food. And Japanese hippies.

Spread the word... I want to get a group of jets to go. I am thinking of driving, making it a short road trip. I can fit 4-5 plus some tents and supplies.

 

I also wanted to go to a couple music fests in the States, but I heard a lot of negative stuff about them. Violence, and people overdosing left and right.

Back home in the States I went to 2 or 3 music fests a summer! There is always your drunk brawls every once in a while - but I never had any negative experiences there! If you're going back to the States totally check out some of the bigger music fests!!!!! I def encourage it!!

theres also a 2 day concert in Osaka over April 4th and 5th so if your not doing much over spring break you could check it out. http://www.punkspring.com/08/lineup/index.html bands like: me first and the gimme gimmes bowling for soup rancid flogging molly plain white ts you can buy tickets at lawsons, for either both days or just one.

whoops sorry I didnt get back to you sooner! My net was down over spring break so wasnt able to check it. Punkspring was awesome!! I went for 2 days and had a blast!

I'm totally interested in going to the first day of Summer Sonic in Osaka! however, I'm a new JET so I don't know what our prefectural orientation/training will be like the first week or so. would it be wise to plan a trip so soon after getting there?

I will be going to Summer Sonic on both days. I don't know the schedule that the new JETs will go through, but if you need help getting to Osaka, I suppose I can help a little. I believe you have to buy tickets through a convenience store called Lawson's... from a machine inside. I can also help in that aspect as well.
