Howdy! This is Mark Filley from Higashine, Yamagata-Ken. “Hajimemashite yoroshuku onigishimasu.” I am a fellow ALT.

I have a big, no a huge favor to ask. I have been working on a multilingual map project for travelers/adventurers in new cities. In your time spent in your local city, you have found not only the bank and grocery store, but also the best place for yaki-tori, a hair salon that understands what you need, and the best spot for hanami. The huge favor is this: Please check out www.MarksMaps.info and add these locations to the multilingual map project. The site is mainly in English, but I'm expanding the Japanese – with your help we can finish adding and updating the Japanese. If you can add any other languages – that would be great also!

This information is for everyone. Please add anything that you think that your successor or visitors to your city would like or need to know. www.MarksMaps.info is all about doing – actions. Being new to a city can be difficult, especially if everything is in another language. Please help ease the transition for the new people to your area. Add the schools, city hall, and post office. But also add the bicycle/car repair shop, where runners with huge feet like me can find shoes that fit, and where you can rent Japanese movies with English subtitles. You can add these locations in English, Japanese, any and all languages.

www.MarksMaps.info is not just for Japan and Japanese – we use Google Maps, anywhere they go, we go. Feel free to add to your hometown locations that you love. Or the hotel/guesthouse you stayed in while visiting another country. Or . . . anything ok.

Please forward this e-mail to anyone who could use this information.
