Hi from the lone Group C ALT!
Hey everyone! My name is Sean and I'm a new ALT in Echizen City and I just wanted to introduce myself since I came all by myself in orientation Group C and missed out on Fukui orientation. I heard a bit about everybody climbing Fuji at orientation and was sad to miss out (My brother got married a few weeks ago so I got pushed from Group A to C as a result). I've only been here in Fukui for about 10 days now and have only gotten a chance to meet a handful of you, but if anyone is ever interested in exploring the area or showing the new guy around, let me know.

P.S. Would any of you returning JETs happen to have a copy of the Intermediate JET Japanese Course Books that you'd be willing to part with? I signed up for Advanced course, but think that it's likely going to be a little above my level so I'd also like to get my hands on the intermediate books. Let me know! Thanks!
Hi Sean,
My name is Cindy and I'm one of the presidents of the Fukui JET community. I tried to make it out to meet you last week but I couldn't wake up... >.< Summer vacation is hard. I have a copy of the course books and the later ones are unblemished (got tired of doing the exercises and just did the tests).
FJET plans several events throughout the year, and we keep an email list so that when some local event comes up we can keep everyone informed. There's a fee for joining the FJET community, but it lasts for a lifetime. I think the fee is 2000 yen. If you want to join, let us know your email so we can add you to the list.
In the meantime, check out the calendar on this website and see if there are any events you could join. Also, feel free to stalk us on facebook, most of us use it often.
Good luck and hope to meet you soon!

Hey Sean! My name is Daria.
Nice to meet you. I hope that you are liking Fukui so far. I have only been since Group A arrived but I am totally loving it. It really is a great place to be an ALT. All of the people that I have met have been super awesome!!! I live in Maruoka which is not to far from you I think. I am teaching at Maruoka Senior High School and so far I love it. Let me know if you need anything. If you come to Maruoka and need someone to show you around, let me know.
